The Hanshaws

The Hanshaws have made their way back to Arizona,  after living and performing in Texas for many years.   They are excited to be back and look forward to performing in Tucson again.  

David was awarded, 2019 "Songwriter of the Year" by the Houston Songwriter's Association.  David and Kelly were both awarded the 2021 "Collaboration Song Of the Year" for their original Christmas song, Every Day Is Christmas.

The Hanshaws perform as an acoustic duo. Their musical repertoire is Country/Folk/Americana. Venues include: Hickory Hollow in the Heights, Clancy’s Public House, JP Hops House, Gabby's BBQ restaurants, Braman Winery Tasting Room, Red River BBQ, Lomonte's Italian Grill & Bar, Wing’s N More at The Woodlands, Texas Tradition, Pappasito’s, as well as private events and functions.

The Hanshaws have been selected for 8 years running as the entertainment for the celebrities and honored guests attending the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Dignitary Breakfast, which kicks off the big Rodeo Parade in downtown Houston.

Their self-titled CD, “The Hanshaws,” garnered the duo a nomination as "Vocal Duo/Group of The Year" by the Academy of Texas Music at the 2008 Texas Music Awards.

Songs from the CD received air-play on local radio as well as overseas. Their recording of “Ring of Fire” charted at #73 on the European Country Music Charts and stayed on the chart for 12 weeks. Their original song, Robbin’ Trains, charted on the Roots Music Report at #8 in the “Pop Country” category and also at #25 on the Roots “Texas” category.

Their single release the song, “If You Leave It To Me,” written by their friend Saylor White, was licensed to the Dickie’s BBQ restaurant chain for their in-house play-list for all their 250 locations.

David’s original song, Take Me Down To the Water, was a Top Finalist in the Ronnie Milsap "Country Cut" contest held by American Songwriter Magazine. The song was also a finalist in the Music City Song Writing Competition held by the Nashville Visitors Bureau.

The Hanshaws have opened shows for: Kelly Willis, Shake Russell, Vern Gosdin, Mel McDaniel, Commander Cody, David Frizzell, Johnny Paycheck, Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee, Sammi Smith, Dave Dudley, Moe Bandy, Jerry Reed, and the Late Joe Maphis (King of the Strings) and Rose Lee.
